In March 2024, Colorado artist Jessie Belisle was selected by the Colorado Avalanche to design a special commemorative jersey for Women’s History Month as part of the team’s Diversity Artist Series. This collaboration brought together sport, community, and visual art to honor female empowerment and the ongoing pursuit of equality and recognition for women everywhere.
For her design, Jessie focused on themes of strength, resilience, and awareness. Central visual elements — including roses, flowing curves, and a symbolic eye — reflect the layered experiences of women: roses representing love, sisterhood, and resilience; curves celebrating the beauty and power of the female form; and the eye as a reminder of inner wisdom and consciousness guiding us through life’s challenges.
The finished jersey was displayed at Ball Arena during Avalanche games, connecting fans with art that celebrates women’s contributions on and off the ice.
